  • Clearview Estate Endeavour Chardonnay 2013 750ml "Full, light golden-yellow colour, a little lighter edged. This has a very full, rich, open and bold nose of well-concentrated and densely packed aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits with powerful, exotic, nutty and toasty new oak. The fruit unfolds complex mealy, savoury detail along with flinty and smoky elements with aeration, the oak a focus of the bouquet. Full-bodied, the palate has mouthfilling and bold flavours of rich, ripe stonefruit and citrus fruits, forming a concentrated heart. The fruit is complemented by considerable toasty, smoky and spicy oak flavours. The palate has a degree of tightness and restraint, with the richness in balance. There is underlying alcoholic power and drive, carrying the creamy, nutty flavours and complex array of detailed nuances along with good acid liveliness and energy, to a very long, strong finish. This is a very powerful Chardonnay with considerable new oak presence and underlying complexities, the wine balanced in richness and structure, with excellent energy and drive."

  • Henschke Hill of Grace Eden Valley 2004 750ml Excellent vintage. Good depth of colour and hue with a tinge of purple. A more savoury style of bouquet with lots of dry Eastern spices, even some black pepper. Tremendous intensity in the mouth, great power and penetrating flavours, again with a complex mix of spices to the fore. Terrific verve and energy, the tannins perfectly in tune with the flavours. Wonderful flavour, great harmony, a fantastic wine.
  • Henschke Hill of Grace Eden Valley 2009 750ml The colour is deep, dark red with a slight purple tint. The bouquet opens with cassis and 'canned corn' aromas, building complexity as it warmed in the glass, to reveal five-spice and vegetal, herbal and black fruit aromas, with tinges of dried herbs, leather and tar. It's rich and fleshy on the tongue, with fine-grained tannins and gentle, mellow flavours that are not particuarly fruity, but very very distinctive of Hill of Grace. Soft, fluffy tannins and great length; a sensational wine and a very good Hill of Grace.
  • Henschke Cyril (gift box) Cab Sauv 2010 750ml Henschke's flagship Cabernet is named after the late Cyril Henschke who purchased the Eden Valley property in the 1960s. Stephen and Prue Henschke then established the vineyard with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines which produces this intensely perfumed Cabernet. Matured in 100% new French oak for 18 months, this exceptional wine shows blackcurrant and cedar characters balanced with superb fine grained tannin.
  • Hentley Farm The Beast Shiraz 2013 750ml Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2013 Shiraz The Beast has an earthy/gamey nose with dried mulberries and preserved plums at the core, morphing into spice box, sandalwood and peppery notes. Full-bodied, rich, concentrated and a full-on 'beast,' as the name suggests, it is actually very delicious and has real depth with many layers coming through on the impressively long finish
  • Hentley Farm Clos Otto Shiraz 2013 750ml The Clos Otto has become known for its capacity to combine richness and intensity with complexity and elegance, and this vintage is no different. Rich primary fruit characters of Blackberry, Blueberry and Blackcurrant combine with spices of Nutmeg and Cumin and floral notes of Violet and Jasmine. This nose is made all the more complex with the addition of underlying aromatics of mocha, truffle and mushroom. The palate provides a silky texture that coats the palate without overpowering, providing length and ageability. Flavours persist from start to finish and mirror the balance and complexity shown on the nose."
  • Jim Barry The Benbournie Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 750ml Cassis fruit and barrel char pick up herbal, tobacco-like shadings on the palate, which is full bodied while at the same time showing Cabernet's characteristic restraint.
  • Jim Barry The Armagh Shiraz 2005 750ml A rollercoaster ride of opulent fruit and aristocratic elegance. A massive attack of fruit; Boysenberry, Blueberries, Plum. Interwoven complexity; Menthol, Spearmint, Rose, Lavender, Spice. A Pandora's box of intricacy and sophistication. The staring role; Loganberry, Blackberry, Mulberry. The supporting act; Cracked Pepper, Sage, Mint, Roasted Coffee Beans. Seamless yet structural tannin structure. Approachable, Inviting, Satisfaction, Minerality.
  • Penfolds Grange Shiraz 2005 1500ml "Containing just a dollop of 4.1% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2005 Grange is about 85%+ Barossa fruit with the remaining proportions coming from McLaren vale and Coonawarra. It was aged for 18 months in 100% new American oak hogsheads. The nose begins a bit animal with some smoked game, mincemeat and bacon notes emerging over the freshly crushed, sun-warmed blackberries, black currant cordial, earth, black truffles, anise and allspice. Rich and full with very firm very fine tannins and very crisp acid, it gives a long finish layered with coffee, mincemeat and toast." Lisa Perotti-Brown MW
  • Penfolds Grange Shiraz 2006 1500ml "This precision engineering through the finish marks its intense quality. It tastes of blackberry and aniseed, nutmeg and smoky vanilla. It's quite delicious, and yet there's no question that it's powerfully wrought. It's not a particularly heralded vintage, in general terms, but the way this release presents in the glass is, to me, what Grange is all about. Impeccable winemaking, pure fruit, clasps of uncompromising tannin, smokin' barrels, and thrust."
  • Penfolds Grange Shiraz 2007 1500ml 1.5L 1.5 Litre "Deep purple crimson colour. Fresh liquorice, cola, blackberry, mocha, herb garden aromas and malty new oak. Deep set blackberry, sweet fruit, mocha, herb flavours, fine slinky dry - slightly grippy tannins, malty, toasty oak. Finishes chocolaty al-dente firm. Quite brambly. Very elemental and muscular with underlying sweet fruit. Will last at least 25 years"
  • Penfolds Grange Shiraz 2008 1500ml An utterly majestic Shiraz, sleek and seamless, brimming with ripeness on a framework that allows for grace and expressiveness in equal measure. The intensity of fresh blueberry and plum fruit holds attention until the nuances kick in, offering glints of exotic spice, coffee, cocoa, bay leaf and mint. Shows tremendous presence without a lot of weight, the tannins noticeable but not even close to getting in the way. A great wine now, with plenty of room to grow. Drink now through 2040
  • Penfolds Grange Shiraz 2009 1500ml Deep crimson to purple. Very fragrant elderberry, dark cherry, liquorice aromas with underlying ginger, mocha, malty nuances. Lovely concentrated palate with deep-set dark cherry, elderberry flavours, fine dense leafy tannins and ginger, malty oak. Finishes bittersweet with massive tannins and plume of extract. Impressive, solid wine with extraordinary density, robustness and lasting power
  • Penfolds RWT Shiraz 2008 1500ml Glorious, deep crimson-purple, with an alluring bouquet of black fruits, spice and cedary oak contributed by 14 months' maturation in 83% new French hogsheads. The medium- to full-bodied palate has layer-upon-layer of velvety blackberry fruit allied with notes of dark chocolate and a sprinkle of licorice and spice, silky tannins and quality oak completing the package.
  • Penfolds Grange Shiraz 2004 750ml Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2004 Penfolds Grange offers a profound nose of black cherries, creme de cassis licorice and dark chocolate with suggestions of cedar and violets. Full bodied, ripe and voluptuous in the mouth, the generous flesh is well supported by medium to high acidity and a firm level of finely grained tannins, finishing long. It's seductively approachable now but has much more to give and should drink best 2015 to 2035+.
